Prof. Neelika Malavige who was Head of Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Sri Jayewardenepura and the Director of research and development at the Allergy, Immunology and Cell Biology Unit was appointed as the Head of Dengue Global Programme and Scientific Affairs at Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative. (DnDi) in July 2022.
Prof. Malavige is a well-recognised leader in the field of dengue. Her research focus is on dengue – to find out the therapeutic targets, notably mediators of vascular leak, the role of antibodies in disease pathogenesis, and correlates of protection in dengue.
