A-level students internship program

  • This is a 3 to 6 week program designed to introduce basic laboratory techniques and a brief introduction to the main areas of research carried out at the department. The laboratory experience will be mainly on an observational basis. This program is open to A/L students.

  • This is an internship offered to students who have completed their undergraduate degree. This is a practical internship where the student will be fully involved in the laboratory work done in the research labs. The internship will consist of four, 1-week modules. The first module will cover all aspects of lab work. The remaining 3 weeks will be separated into the remaining 3 modules, which involves the main research areas in the department laboratories. Each module will have a training supervisor that will guide the intern through all aspects of the module.

Ten week industrial training

  • This is a training program offered to undergraduate students of the University. Students from the Applied Sciences Faculty are required to do a minimum ten week industrial training in the 3rd year of their undergraduate degree. The students will initially receive an introduction to laboratory practise and then be incorporated into the research areas of the department labs. The main areas of research are divided into 3 modules and interns will be involved in these research areas.

  • We have options for undergraduates from other Medical Faculties in the country or from overseas to come for short elective programs, for a duration of one week upwards. These are individually tailored to the students’ needs depending on their areas of interest that fall under the main areas of specialization of the Department. The department focuses on Immunology, Molecular Medicine and Allergy.
