The Allergy, Immunology, and Cell Biology Unit (AICBU) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) successfully convened an immunology research workshop on February 27, 2025, at the university premises. The event brought together leading immunology experts from Sri Lanka and South Korea to advance scientific dialogue and strengthen academic partnerships.

Global Expertise in Immunology
Distinguished scholars Professor Ahn Jin Hyun and Professor Kim Tae Jin from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, delivered keynote lectures, presenting cutting-edge research on contemporary challenges in immunology. Their contributions highlighted innovative approaches to understanding immune mechanisms and disease responses.
Complementing their insights were presentations by Senior Professor Gathsaurie Neelika Malavige and Professor Chandima Jeewandara of AICBU, who showcased the unit’s pioneering work in immunology and cell biology. Their research underscores USJ’s growing influence in addressing global health challenges through interdisciplinary science. The workshop was graced by Senior Professor Pathmalal Manage, Vice Chancellor of USJ.
A Platform for Future Partnerships
Attended by faculty members, researchers, and students, the workshop facilitated dynamic discussions on emerging trends in immunology, microbiology, and therapeutic development. It also laid the groundwork for future collaborative projects between USJ and Sungkyunkwan University, reinforcing the value of cross-border knowledge exchange
