Workshops at the Unit are held to improve the knowledge and expertise of the current staff to improve the quality of research we produce as well as to increase the keep up to date with the latest technology.
We had a workshop on the Thermo Scientific Phadia 250 Allergy Diagnostic Machine. This is the first machine installed in Sri Lanka. This will enable wider diagnostic accuracy for patients with allergic diseases.
Another workshop was held to train the staff as the fully automated autoimmunity diagnostic lab was established. This will broaden the scope of autoimmunity diagnostics in Sri Lanka.
Flowcytometry facilities in Sri Lanka are not freely available but our Unit boasts of a BD FACS Aria III flowcytometer that can perform advanced cytometry as well as cell sorting. Therefore we had a team coming in to help us to broaden our scope of use with this progressive facility that is available in our lab.
